Video problems with my Fuji digital camera

Jan 16, 2007 6:19PM PST

Hello. Please forgive me if this has been asked before. I ran a search on the topic but wasn't able to find anything.

I have a Fuji FinePix A345. I like the camera a lot, but lately I have been having problems with the video function. Whenever I play back anything I've recorded, there are numerous hiccups in the sound, and even some minor jumps in the video. It's bad enough to make any video I take essentially worthless, and it seems like the longer the clip the worse the problem.

This started when I bought a new XD card for the camera. The A345 comes with a 16 meg card, but that's only big enough to hold a dozen or so pics or about a minute and a half of video, so of course I wanted something bigger. I bought a 1 gig XD card, which is big enough for over an hour of video. I don't know if this has anything at all to do with the problem.

If anyone can help me out here, I'd really appreciate it. This is a very annoying problem! Thank you!

Fujifilm A345

The Fujifilm A345 is not a great camera for doing video.

It can only record 320x240 at 10 frames per second.

But if you think your video problems started with the new xD memory card,
you should start there.

Put the old 16 meg card back in the camera and see if it back to its old self.

If so, you can suspect the new card.

You failed to mention what brand of card you bought,
and where you bought it.

If you have a name brand card and if you bought the card on eBay or from some untrusted source,
you may have gotten a counterfeit card.
There are lots of reports of counterfeit cards.

If you have a brand X (no name) card, you probably got a card that does not meet xD specifications.

Fuji XD card

Well, all the video I took before I got the new card, though short, came out just fine.

The new card is a Fuji brand XD card, and I got it at Best Buy, so I'm sure it's not a bootleg item.

I'll see if I can dig up the old card and try taking some video with that.

I have the A-350 and same problem
Jun 18, 2008 4:20AM PDT

It works fine with the 16mb card but I have purchased and then returned for another 512 memory card and video and audio both cut and skip on every movie I take and have tried every setting there is for resolving the issue so looks like a bug in the camera for anything above the 16mb card they include, next step is I write to them about this issue along with this website to show it's not an isolated problem.

Tested the old card

Okay, so I tested the old card out and everything is cool with it. Video comes out just fine, no hiccups of any sort.

Any idea what the problem could be with my gig card?

Fuji A350 with Standard XD card or M type XD card
Jun 9, 2008 12:51AM PDT

I have same problems with my Fuji A350 camera..

The audio and video is fine for the 16 MB standard XD card that came with the camera with any settings I use.

However with 1Gb M type XD card, I get bad audio (it skips) and video too skips. I have tried both Olympus and SanDisk, with same results. Both were Made in Japan. Audio and video is not good when I use the 320x240 setting. With the 160x120 the audio is ok.

I checked fuji website and 1Gb M type is supposed to work. Is this for photo quality only?

Am I getting the sound difference because of the M type?
