Video Podcasting

Feb 14, 2006 7:07AM PST

For me personally I am stuck with using Windows Movie Maker. The only problem with that is the fact that WMV files will not be listed in iTunes.

That program I listed earlier today may help out, however I have not had good luck with it yet, still gotta play with it some more.

On my Sony Cybershot DSC-P93A, the video files come in as a regular mpeg.

Do you know if windows movie maker is in xp pro?

I was looking for it the other day as I wanted to do something really simple but I could not find it?

It should be in all versions of Windows starting with either Windows ME (maybe even 98 SE). But yes, it is in XP Pro.

Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Windows Movie Maker

I am always on the lookout, every day, if I see anything I will let you know. There was a program I posted about earlier called VEMoDe, didn't work great for me, but, I still haven't had time to test it further.

When I was using PCs. I used a program that sony acquired called Vegas. It was really easy to use and pretty powerful too. i'm sure you could find the last version of this in the bargain bin of best buy or something liek that. They have software called Movie Studio that I'm sure is just Vegas "lite"

I also thought that Avid had released a free version of it's tools. If Pros aren't using Final Cut; they're using Avid

Yup

I would have mentioned Avid's free product, but honestly, I do not know how to use it. It is daunting to me.

It also requires lots of RAM (1 gig), runs on my system. Haven't made a video with it yet.

ULeads bundles free software with most aftermarket burners
Feb 14, 2006 9:41AM PST

It's lite version of their commercial stuff. But it's pretty similar to the ease of iMovie and iDVD.

Maybe you know someone who has recently bought a new burner that would give you the install cds

Recently bought a new burner, it did come with software, however it only came with software to make the movie then burn it to DVD. Nothing to export it to a podcasting format.

There's always iMovie

Apparently iLife 06 has alot of tools with podcasting in mind. Haven't purchased it yet.

The big time waster is the conversion of the finished .mov file to a podcast friendly format. I have yet to find a tool that does the conversion with any real speed performance benefit.

Tried:
MPEG Streamclip
Quicktime Pro
iSquint

They all take a lot of time.
