Video playback on HDTV

Feb 19, 2011 7:35AM PST

I know how to connect my HD DV HDMI digital camcorder to my HDTV via cable in order to play video on the TV that was recorded with the camcorder. However, is it possible to upload other types of videos from my Windows PC to the camcorder to then be viewed on the HDTV? I loaded an MP4 file onto the camcorder, but was unable to play it on the TV. Can I convert MP4 or similar files to a format that can be loaded onto my camcorder and viewed on the TV? Many thanks.

Which camcorder - manufacturer and model number?
Which computer - hardware manufacturer and model number?

As far as I know, getting high definition format video from the computer to the camcorder is typically limited to miniDV tape based camcorders connecting with firewire to the computer.

Thanks for the reply.

The camcorder is an Insignia NS-DCC5HB09.

My PC is a HP Compaq dc7800 small form factor.

Hope that helps. Thanks again.

This question has been asked many times before and without fail, no one has found any repeatable solution when it comes to this type of player.

miniDV was unique about this and we'll miss it as it passes out of favor.
