Video Gaming on the Samsung LN52A650

Dec 6, 2008 1:22AM PST

I'm sorry if this topic has been covered already. I searched through the forums but didn't see the topic.

I play video games quite a bit on my Xbox 360 both online and offline. I need to know if there is any noticeable lag when playing. I'm buying a TV after Christmas and need to know about this.

Any info about this will be greatly appreceiated.

RogueRedneck,

Welcome to the forum.

As far as LCD panels go, the A650 is a good choice. This is one of the few panels on the market that specifically has gamers in mind. There is a Game Mode feature built in that turns off the additional processing normally associated with television feeds. This processing is usually the cause of "game lag", so the ability to defeat (turn off) the function is a bonus.

Online gaming is a little different, as some lags are due to the connection speed, but that's inherenent to any technology, and not specifically Samsung or even LCD.

I can't 100% determine that there won't be "noticable lag", since that judgment is best made every individual person. It's a little like "I need to know if it has the best picture", since everyone sees it differently. However, many gamers have noted the improvement is significant and they appreciate being recognized.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the info. I'm well aware of the issues with online gaming and the other factors that come into play with lag issues. I just wanted to make sure the TV I bought wouldn't be a source of the problem.
