Video game advice needed

Dec 5, 2003 3:49AM PST

I recall that my son bought a game several years ago by Tom Clancey.

All I could find on the 'net now by Tom Clancey require Play Station 2.

I read a review of the video game, "The Runaway" at Reuters, and wondered if someone who likes Tom Clancey would enjoy it. Also open to other suggestions.

Thanks,

Angeline

Hi Angeline,

I haven't been able to find that review at Reuters on "The Runaway" nor anything at GampSpot on it.

I have the old PC game Rogue Spear, Rainbow Six, by Tom Clancey. Here are some other old ones for PC by Tom Clancey:

Advice? Are you looking for some current video game gifts with shoot-em-up with/without gore/blood?

There are several rated "Teen" that I like including the Medal of Honor series Allied Assault with the additional add-on's 'Spearhead' and 'Breakthrough'.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Half Life, Unreal II, 007 Nightfire, No One Lives Forever I & II, Indiana Jones series, and Max Payne are a few of the others that I like.

I was looking for "The" Runaway, and ignored "Runaway: A road adventure". Yes, it should be a game that also requires thought.
"You'll collect items in the environment and combine them in clever ways to get past obstacles or solve certain problems." Puzzles may be taxing on occasion. See the write up at GameSpot:

I don't have it, but will probably get when on sale locally.

I'm sending a link to "America's Army" to him now. (The price is sure right!) Wink Thanks!

I checked out Operation Flashpoint at Amazon, and there were several for the PC. (So many now are for the game boxes.) I reckon the first one is the one that has the updates, but it said it was for those who had the first versioin. So, I went ahead and ordered Runaway. (If he likes it, I'll post same. If he doesn't, you'll know by my silence.) Happy

Hi, Angeline.

I can't make a specific suggestion, as I play on the PC, not consoles. But our sister site, www.gamespot.com, really is one of the best sites on the web for reviews etc. I've been a subscriber to Computer Caming World, with which it's affiliated, since 1985!

If he doesn't have "Splinter Cell" yet....
Dec 6, 2003 5:04PM PST

... it sounds like it'd be right up his alley. It's a tactical game, a little less team oriented then previous Clancy titles but widely considered to be one of the better ones in recent memory. I've also heard good things about Rogue Spear 2, though I don't know if it's out yet. Both are published by UBI Soft and should be on your (and my, heh) local computer shelf.
