Video edit software for sony handycam

Dec 12, 2004 3:52PM PST

I have a sony Handycam 201. My roxio video editing software doesn't recognize the camcorder via the USB, or the info finalized on the disc from a DVD reader.

Does anyone know of good editing software to capture and edit DVDs recorded from this camcorder?

Some of these only work with Firewire, so I have to write "No, haven't found one that works with USB."

However "the info finalized on the disc from a DVD reader" might find some use in Ulead's DVD Movie Factory Version 3.

I'm having somewhat the same problem here.I have a new sony handycam DCRTRV260 and was wondering if there are other editing software out there that can be used. I just read on the Sony wed sight that you can stream and save to the desk top. They didn't say if you can use other editing software to edit it thow.

Connection or Format Issue
Dec 15, 2004 4:34AM PST

Are you having a connection or format issue?? Sony loves to use proprietary formats on their devices. MP3 anyone?? Check to see what format the camera is saving the video in. You may have a choice - Sony's or an industry standard.

Also, on some camera's they supply a analog video out cable and USB cable but the USB cable is for downloading still pictures only, if you want to download video you have to use the analog cable or buy a firewire cable which some manufacturers don't supply with the camera. I know it's dumb but the firewire is an option.

First job. Go to Squared5 and download their MPEG STREAMCLIP
Next job. Install said software, which is free. And I don?t mean free if you spend $500 on something else. Free as in no charge.
3rd and last job. Go to Apple and spend $20 on buying their MPEG-2 Playback component. Or ? and I am not recommending this, but I did hear you could pick it up for free on a bit torrent site. Not that I am recommending that. _Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Works like a dream now. I have shot, edited and posted my first video to Google video. But ? google has slaughtered the quality to the point I am ashamed to show it here.
