Video display scambled at boot

I have built a new system with an Asus Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe mother board & Leadtek PX 6800 GT PCI Express video card. Video display is scrambled at boot up with only a few letters & numbers readable. The rest of the display is colored lines and scrambled symbols.

At bootup, POST is fine with 1 beep. Power supply is a Ultra 500 watt with 24 pin plug. All lights on mother board & video card are green.

Could I have gotten a bad video card?
