Hands down the easiest to get working.

I am going out of town for an extended period of time and wanted to be able to talk with and see my family every night via web cams.
What is the best way to set such a system up, what software, hardware, etc. do I need to install before I leave? We have a desktop computer at home with high speed internet connectivity and I will have my laptop with internet card with me.
I would appreciate any input.
Thank you

Do either of your computers have built in webcams?
Windows Live Messenger is free and has video chat capabilities.
I'm not too familiar with peripheral webcams, but I would trust the reviews on Cnet: http://reviews.cnet.com/4566-6502_7-0.html?tag=leftColumnArea1.0
Ya' gotta have cameras. Logitec, among others, have simple cameras. DO NOT drop a bundle on a major expensive camera as they all work the same. They're USB and after running the software drivers will have settings for various messaging services. I used ICQ and Yahoo!
They work fine for home use. I have high speed broadband but the video was a little jerky. Fine for visiting family. Don't expect excellent quality. For your needs you will be fine. The quality of the picture will depend on "both ends" of the connection. What type of connection will you have on the road? If it's dial-up, forget it, it will not work.
I'm going to start a new job and won't know the exact equipment until I actually get there but am trying to get as many answers and preliminary stuff done before I leave.
I do appreciate your input and have been looking at some of the logitech cameras you mentioned.
