Video Card Problems

Jan 27, 2004 11:22AM PST

I'm trying to install an ATI Radeon 7000 64MB PCI video card and I am having trouble disabling my onboard video memory. My current video adapter is SiS 530 and my motherboard is a Packard Bell MB980 and my OS is 98/SE. Does anyone know how I would disable the onboard video memory?

Two possibilites come to mind and these are guesses. You either have to disable in the bios and/or use a setup disk to do that or physically via a jumper. That said, the setup disk should be part of the PB s/w bundle. You can find out more *maybe* at this website:

Register there and surf for the info. Understand also, you may disable the video portion but the full memory amount "may not" return to the system for use. That is deciated memory and will always be for video access even if option is disabled. -----Willy
