Video card memory question

Dec 28, 2004 11:00AM PST

I have an older 600mhz Athlon Compaq
It has a Voodoo 3 2000 with 16mb, I beleive it is a 4x or better AGP.
I want to upgrade to a little more recent card, but am not sure if the newer cards with DDR will work with my sdram system. It is an AGP based system and I may be causing some laughter througout the world by asking about the memory, but I am an older noob, and need some direction.

Any help out there?

Rob

The video card memory doesn't have to match...

The host's type of memory...

I have the Voodoo 3500TV in a box (gotta ebay it!) and any FX5200 will zoom past it on any given CPU.

if you have an AGP slot or even a pci slot. the memory on the Video card dose not matter. i have a system that uses sdram but has a Gforce 4mx that has DDR memory used on it. in other words your system ram has nothing to do with whatson your video card. the video card has its own.
