on-board video, hook your monitor to it first without the new card in the AGP slot. Now get into the bios, and find the setting (usually in the Integrated Peripherals area) and disable the video there. Also look for the setting (normally in the Main area or Advanced) that says Video Seek (or something similar) and make sure you change it from the default PCI to AGP. As you exit the bios, save the changes....the computer will start to reboot on its own, so just turn it off.

Install the new card into the AGP slot, and reboot...

This should now give you the signal you need...
