My advice is to skip the 8400 and 8600 line entirely. Let others take the risk.
Here's the list I like -> http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2118.html
Asus P5LD2 Deluxe, P4 3.40 Ghz 2 MB L2 cache, Asus N6800GT PCI-E, Antec 500W SmartPower 2.0, Xp Pro SP2
The N6800GT failed in a big way (on-card little resistor thingy burned)- stupid, I cleaned my case regularly but overlooked the video card fan and sink - and I think DirectX 10 and Flight Sim put it over the edge.
Question - might it be safe to assume there is no problem with the motherboard and just put in a new card? Would the Zotac NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS 64-bit HDTV/TV HDCP Turbo Cache be compatable? (It's better than the old 6800 and it's cheap (on-a-pension cheap).
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
