Video Capture w/ DVD Camcorder

May 16, 2006 11:46AM PDT

I have a Sony DCR-DVD92 DVD camcorder. I like it, but the part I hate is that it wont connect to the computer via FireWire or USB. I can put the DVD in the DVD drive and go through hours of transferring, converting, compressing, and editing. But what I have heard if that you can use a video capture device to transfer data to your computer by plugging in the A/V cables from the camcorder to the video capture device. Then the device sends the video to software on the PC. First of all is will it work??? The second thing is, if its possible, I don't have any idea as to which video capture device works best, has great quality, and is under 150 dollars. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!Thanx

Didn't it come with Imagemixer software or something like that??

You should be able to transfer the video with usb.
What software are you using??

The lowest end Sony DVD model does not have USB or Firwire to connect to the computer. (I dont know why?) I have to put the DVD disc directly into the DVD drive on my computer.

I bought it last year for Mother's Day at Best Buy. Would they give me full credit towards a new purchase or money back? If so, how much would I get back? It was $500. What should I do? Then that leads to another question. Which miniDV camcorder should I get? Budget: under $800. Good to very good quality video. Don't care that much about the zoom. Good little extras that make it stand out from the rest. Thanx for any suggestions!!!!!!!
