video capture causes xp crash - irql not less or equal

Apr 13, 2005 11:51PM PDT

Help! I have tried two different video capture devices that connect my vcr to my computer to capture video to burn to DVD, but they both cause the blue screen, and it states IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL. It mentions a driver, but doesn't say more than that. I have an intel MB, D915GAV, and am using the onboard video GMA900, onboard sound, and have a modem. I tried disabling and physically removing the modem, but neither helped. I'm not sure what other driver is the problem. All MB drivers are current. I have a P4 2.8ghz, 512mb ram. I have also tried disabling hyperthreading, turning off antivirus, increasing allocated video memory. Do I need a different video card? Is it my modem? The crash only happens when I try to capture video. I currently have Avermedia DVD EZMaker USB 2.0.
