Video and pictures on same DVD

Aug 17, 2006 6:11AM PDT

I am trying to put together a short DVD Presentation. I have put a short VHS tape onto a DVD that plays good. I have a short slide show of pictures that I created using Easy Media Creator 8 Suite by Roxio. I got the DVD into the program, but all that it puts on the DVD is video, no sound. It will play with sound using Windows Media, but in Roxio all it does is show the video. How do I get the complete video with both audio and sound (14 min.) and a very short slide show (3 min.) onto a DVD that will play so I can do a presentation over a television.
My supervisor needs it for some of his talks. We assist veterans and he does a lot of outreach to get donations and put out information.

Seems right.

The tools you listed are rather limited. Roxio for instance doesn't play DVDs well so you can't tell what will happen till you toss it into a real DVD player. WMP is similar fare.

Can you move to some better tools?

I am trying to set up a DVD that will play on various players over TVs at meetings of the local VFW, DAV, etc.
What programs would work better? This is coming out of my pocket since we do not have enough in our budget for it.
I am open to any suggestions on what to use and how to get the Video and slide show on the same DVD.

Try demos first.

Ulead.com has demos of just about all they offer. DVDSanta is nice to have for some quick work.

The latest Nero is better but they didn't start off as a video DVD creation company so they are still in catch up mode.

If Windows Media Player plays it, why do you care what

Roxio does? Use Windows Media Player for the presentations.

I need to create a DVD that will include the video and a slide show to use at various organizations like the DAV, VFW, schools, etc.

This would be a piece of cake for Sony Vegas.

It can create an mpeg-2 file that Roxio can burn to a DVD. I've done that. My guess is that the Studio (lite) version of Vegas (about $100) can also do this. You could try downloading a trial version from the Sony site to check it out.
