I fully agree that ISP's shouldn't be held liable for data that traverses their networks. However, some of the statements the ISP CEO made were absurd:
"We urge the Australian film industry to address the growing demand for studio content to be delivered in a timely and cost effective manner to consumers and we remain eager to work with them to make this material available legitimately," he said in a statement."
Come on...get a clue. People who pirate movies don't give a damn whether you drop the price to some low level. They're going to steal, no matter what. That's their nature. And any attempt to sugar coat or excuse what they do is baloney, plain and simple.
Also the nonsensical remarks that "they didn't know copyrighted material was being downloaded" defies credulity.
