vga display problem with 46 inch series 6 lcd touch of color

by penguandy / July 21, 2009 12:00 PM PDT

when i hook my laptop up to my tv using a vga cable and i set my resolution on the computer to 1920 x 1080 @60hz like it says in the manual my desktop comes up, however the image is not displayed correctly. everything is "tall" "narrow" however you want to say it. there are black bars on the sides as if it was in 4:3 mode. it isnt and when i put it in that mode the bars get even bigger. also the black bar on the left is much bigger than the one on the right. it displays on other resolutions too, but none of them show the image correctly. it is stretched on the others but it fills up the whole screen. does anyone else have this problem? i can get it to work correctly on my vizio lcd tv in the living room, however the resolution it runs at is not 1920 x 1080, i forget what the resolution is but that tv is 720p not 1080p like my samsung and when i put it on that resolution it said mode not supported. any suggestions to make it display correctly? thanks

A widescreen TV screen is longer, horizontally than a computer monitor.

If you dont' want it stretched, then it will have to put black bars on the side.

penguandy,

You can also try naming your input "PC" in the menu options, as well as choosing "Just Scan" to see if that gives you a better result.
