VFAT is the acronym for "Virtual File Allocation Table", and appears to be used by Win95 and Win 98.

After posting my problem on this forum (see: http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7586-0.html?forumID=68&threadID=18449&messageID=199887 ), it became worse and as at now the machine cannot load Windows to enable me do anything.
Using a Startup Diskette, I managed to get to the Hardrive in DOS mode. I then tried to load Windows by issuing the command: Win.
After several seconds or a minute or so, I got a blue screen with the following:
VFAT Device Initialization Failure
A device or resource eequired by VFAT is not present or is unavailable. VFAT cannot continue loading.
What is this VFAT and how do I get it resolved?
