vexing xbox love issues

Ok, SO this moring I loged onto xbox live, and when I tryed to start up a multiplayer match on Far Cry but, it told me I wasin't allowed to use mutiplayer (something like that) So I tryed CoD2. same thing. I tryed a 3 year old game for the orignal xbox. I got an error message.
I can log into Xbox live, I can download stuff an the Xbox live market place, but I can't get into any multiplayer on any game. I checked the famly settings, everything was accessible. My first guess wast that I got banned, but I see no reason why I would get banned nor have I receaved a message saying I was banned. Any ideas?

If you use a credit card, and when they try to take a payment it is either maxed or expired, they will lock your account down, rather than downgrade it to silver. (as they should do, it's why I bought a membership card instead) That may be your issue. A few people have reported that when this happened to them, they were not able to access the account ever again, ranting with customer service didn't help.
