VERY WORRIED ABOUT PHOTOSHOP ON THE ZD8000

Mar 20, 2005 4:42PM PST

ok ive read about customer reviews about the zd7000 and zd8000 that talk about photoshop problems.
apparently there is some type of problem where while in photoshop the computer just shuts down. One of the solutions is to take out one of the sticks of ram. now i dont want to have to take out my ram to run photoshop and ive read 6 diff reviews where people talk about crashes in photoshop.
i use photoshop every day, i make alot of textures for mods so i dont want my laptop shutting down all the time. and from what it looks like by reviews hp's customer service seems to be terrible.
NOW MY QUESTION IS does anyone out there use photoshop alot on the zd8000?? and have you had any problems.
i already ordered my zd8000 so please no posts about how i should have gotten a diff laptop. id just like to know how common this photoshop problem is. does it happen for everybody? or is it somewhat rare? has hp already fixed the problem? please someone help me out, im worried i just bought a laptop thats gonna shutdown on me while in photoshop. thanks guys

Then...

Install Photoshop the very first day and if it fails then return the unit as defective. In California you have three days to return it and they have to refund the money. Your state may differ.

But test it as soon as you get it so you can get your complaint lodged on day 1,2 or 3 to get the best possible entry in your warranty logs.

No one I know has this issue.

While the office is all of some 100 laptops, few have photoshop and no one reports such an issue. However we have quite a mix of machines. Mostly Dell now.

The issue can be overblown or likely specific to desktop replacement machines such as P4 HT units that have some dust/lint buildup on the heatsinks. This is not a defect in the actual units, but something people don't understand about yearly maintenance.

For instance, I even vacuum out my refrigator's coils yearly to keep it from a similar fate or repair. The air conditioner get a cleaning the month before we get the summer weather here as well.

For keybordp. Do you see that 64-bit tsunami warning?
Mar 21, 2005 4:08AM PST

With each month you'll see that 64-bit wave get larger and larger. At the office, all (new) machines must be 64-bit capable.

elaborate on that

can you elaborate on that? Does that mean I need an AMD? I won't be buying the computer till mid june anyway. I'm buying it for college (email, watch movies, play games, write papers, burn CDs).
I would think that they would offer it with the new processors when they come out. But then again mabie they will have a completely new system out?

By mid-June, the picture will be clearer.

I think you are quite fortunate to be able to wait till then.

And yes, there will be new systems all around by then.
