hi my sisters plasma tv as started to show permanent vertical lines running from the top to bottom there is one or two just about 4 inches from left edge of screen an a large bunch on lines close together about a third way from left into screen covering about 4 to 5 inches of the screen. is this economically repairable or best sold off for spare parts.

Did you call this in?

That's so early for problems so you would call in to ask for the one time warranty extension and then to get an estimate.

Vertical lines on Samsung PDP PS51F5500AR TV
Oct 5, 2015 3:38AM PDT

Hello,

I have similar issue with vertical lines with my samsung PDP PS51F5500AR TV. The TV has around 3 inches of continuous colored vertical lines which overlap the menu options. The vertical lines are opaque and 3 inch picture on the tv cannot be seen. It is very irritating.
The Samsung support has suggested to replace the complete display , the price is around 390$ here in India.
I am really disappointed with Samsung products and quality of the parts they use. I do not wish invest that huge amount to fix the display, which might go bad again after some time.
Any help/ advise / suggestions are welcomed.

Regards,

If TV is out of warranty and you don't want to pay for a repair, your options seem to be limited to:
1. Use all the consumer rights you have. Where I live, if a part goes south well before the average lifetime of the TV, the shop is required to pay part of the repair, because they sold you a seemingly inferior product. Not all shops like that part of our consumer protection law. The law in India might be different. But you didn't tell how old your TV is.
2. Accept it as it is.
3. Buy another TV.

I guess repairing the TV would be better option than buying a new one. Thanks.
