VersionTracker...

Oct 12, 2010 1:05PM PDT

I'd planned on posting this more than a month ago, however things have been very busy...

A quick note to VersionTracker newsletter subscribers:

The team who brought you VersionTracker is now focused on CNET Downloads -- we are the same team who has been with you from the beginning.

While I think it very unlikely that anyone related to VersionTracker will read this, I'll post it anyway.

Thank you for all the assistance VersionTracker provided me over the years that I used it. I wish you guys the best of luck in the future.

Being that VersionTracker is gone, I looked around Download.com for the first time in a few years

I found that while using Download.com it takes me substantially more time to actually find what I'm looking for than it did on VersionTracker (mostly due to the fact that only 4 downloads show at a time on the screen of my laptop).

Even the 1920x1440 display on my desk at work can only show a few selections at a time comparatively (less than my laptop used to show using VT).

Personally I don't care about how pretty it looks, or how flashy it is.

Mostly, I just want to find what I am looking for and download it. Download.com is not as good as VersionTracker was in this regard.

There are other times I want to browse the list of things that have been released recently (like Developer Components and Libraries). Download.com is terrible for this.
