Verizon Wireless / Alltel worst service ever

by wvrick / February 21, 2010 11:55 AM PST

I live in WV and had Alltel for 10 years, last year Verizon merged with Alltel. I live in a town and it has always only had 1 tower to serve the area, promises to add tower after 10 years speak for themselves. In Huntington one of the largest city's in WV you can not get service in the center of the city, and most of the time you only get service 1/2 of the day. Like the phone service rents tower part time. If you live in this area don't listen to their promises of tower and better service lies to sign a contract with this company. The only reason I kept my service was I moved around the area over the ten years, some places I got service where I lived, most I didn't but before my contract expired I was in a area that had service. This past summer AT&T came into my area and put up 7 new towers, I have 2 weeks left then I'll be a happy AT&T customer that can use my phone.
If your thinking of this company and your not planing on moving over the 2 years of your contract, check with someone in your area to see what they say about their service. The TV Ads are mostly lies and make me laugh every time I watch them and I see my area in a solid signal coverage on their map.... LOL at Alltel / Verizon and their TV lie Ads.

Have you tried dialing *228 for a tower update on your Verizon/Alltel phone? When Verizon bought out all of the Alltel towers in my area, I did an update on my Verizon phone and service has been phenomenal ever since.

yes I have updated roaming *228 but with only one tower in the area and the next cell tower 25 miles away here in the mountains my service area is something like a one mile radius of the tower.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
