Verizon's westell 327w

Jan 28, 2008 3:52AM PST

Okay I have some questions about this issue ridden router, and I'm hoping you all can help me out. First off I'm having all the typical problems associated with this router. slow download and upload speeds, and intermitten service. I've been told to eliminate Westell's firewall, and it will solve the speed, and possibly connection problems. I tech told me that my personal firewall (zonealarm pro) will be fine for the firewall service, and I can disable to firewall on my router without worry. I'm a bit skeptical with doing this, so I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts. Also, I was wondering if there were any wireless routers, or even routers for that sake that are out there that are compatible that I can purchase, so I can completely eliminate this damn westell? I am upgrading my comps to wireless N cards, so I'd like to be able to have a router that can broadcast N freqs. any help here would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Helped him over the years until it expired. The firewall can be disabled but that was not what was wrong with his.

To prove it I loaned him my older DSL modem and router and it worked super.
