Verizon DSL with Fujitsu Speedport modem

Jan 2, 2008 7:21AM PST

I have been on Verizon DSL for several years connnected with the older Fujitsu modem. I added a Linksys wireless B router for laptop access a few years ago. This has been on 2 PCs with the one now running Vista and the laptop running XP.
A month ago I bought a D Link wireless N router that I had hoped would give the laptop a little more speed and gain new technology. I never got it working after some calls to Verizon that came down to me having a frame relay package DSL instead of the ATM connection.
During the testing of all of that I discovered that if I bypass the router and plug from the DSL modem to my PC I can't access the internet.I tried the laptop direct and still could not.I know from past trouble shooting that I could plug direct. My pc worked like that before I got the router. If my old Linksys died I could not access the net.Would anyone know why I have this problem?

That one requires PPPoE

The routers must be setup to your PPPoE settings or when connected directly to a PC you have to install PPPoE software on the PCs. And when you go back to using the routers, you get to uninstall the PPPoE software.

Linksys G wireless router not working with Fujitsu modem

I'm also having the same problem with my wireless router. I thought if I bought a D-link, and linksys router it would be fixed.

have you figured out how to fix the problem? If so let me know I have to setup my wireless tonight... Don't feel like running a long cat5 cable downstairs for my laptop.

Thanks,

So your telling me that you used the PPPoE and it started to work?

The above link only shows me the model of the modem and specs.

I will try the PPP setting tonight and see if that works. Hopefully that will work for me.

Verizon DSL with Fujitsu Speedport modem

I had the exact same problem and it's not because of PPPoE because my part of the country Verizon DSL doesn't use it.

The ISP has "married" the MAC address of your old router, so, you must "clone" that MAC address (listed in the Linksys set-up page -- should be the MAC address for WAN MAC address or Internet MAC address, it's one of those) to your new router. In the new router set-up, enter in the MAC address from the Linksys router, and you'll be good to go. Hope this helps.
