Don't allow .exe and .zip files. It's because they can open and execute themselves, like a virus and spyware would. I received a zip file in my Verizon email account but never tried to send one.

I'm using Verizon DSL. Normal messaging with small files works fine.
I discovered I couldn't send a 7.4MB attachment via Email, as a .PDF. So I Zipped it, still won't send. Gets 51% done, then message about "The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server outgoing.verizon.net failed ...
Verizon's website (http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Email/Storage/QuestionsOne/85691.htm) says "Emails sent using 3rd party email programs like Outlook, Lotus Notes, or Eudora, however; can contain attachments up to 20 MB."
I wanted an answer regarding why I cannot send a 7.4MB file, when the website says web mail can send 8MB and 3rd party email programs can send up to 20MB attachments. I use Thunderbird.
The tech told me to upload the file to a third-party site, and send the URL to the Email recipient. Not a valid response, IMHO. Then the tech wanted to take control of the computer to use Verizon's web mail to send the file. It didn't work, and then the tech intentionally shut off my computer.
Again, not acceptable.
It appears to me that Verizon is making false claims about their services, and their support sucks. Am I wrong?
