Ventilator fan error message

Apr 9, 2004 7:02AM PDT

I have an Pavilion xl775 desktop computer

I have ventilator fan error message
failure turn off computer and check connection.

I pulled fan and replaced it works fine). I can press f1 and get into bios can't reboot can't reformat drive won't recognize any disk floppy or windows 98 or xp.
Near the bottom of screen It says press f1 for set up but nothing happens. Someone said sensor is probably bad, I need to go into bios and turn off error message. Does anyone know the steps in doing this?

In short, the fan may not be the CPU FAN, but the one in the power supply?

There's also the issue that the 3-wire fan units are needed.

ventilator fan msg-have same problem
Dec 25, 2004 11:06AM PST

I noted a single response months back. Yesterday I got the same message on my Pavilion 8766c. Like you I figured it was just the case fan. I ran across your email while searching for info on such fans. My question is, how did you resolve the problem assuming you ever did? I think before doing anything else, I would like to hear how your situation evolved. Thanks in advance.
