VCR Recording

I live in an apartment which supplies basic cable without a box. I am looking to purchase a VCR to record programs when I am not at home. Do I need a VCR with a tuner to do this?

How else are you going to select the channel? But remember feb. of 2009 everything going digital (just a reminder); or is your cable already digital?

Actually

Only broadcast of large stations is going digital. Cable, satellite and small local stations will still work with your analog tuners. You will need a digital tuner for OTA reception of major networks

A lot depends on your cable company. Some cable companies are also phasing out analog cable and going with digital. If you cable company is one of those you will have to get a digital cable box. give them a call and check this out. John
