VCR Directly to the monitor. Myth or magic?

Oct 28, 2006 5:26AM PDT

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Is it possible to hook up my old VCR directly to my new Dell Monitor 15" flat panel or my old Dell CRT? Otherwise I have to capture all my VHS tapes and burn them onto DVDs; it takes forever!

Thank you for any and all suggestions.

Sincerely,
Over-Byte

PS I do not own a TV.

That maybe a myth, but...

I would think a tv tuner card should allow you to view tapes in real time (at least it seem logical to me).

I do, in fact, have a TV Tuner card in my Dell E510. How would I hook up the VCR? Thank you in advance for your help.

Dose this have AV inputs???? If so run cables from the VCR to the inputs on the tuner card.
You also could use a RF cable and tune to channel 3 or 4. john

Technologically Challenged

John,

Thank you so much. I hope I don't sound like a complete idiot (just a partial idiot), but how do I tell which are the AV inputs to the TV Tuner? And, what is an RF cable and where does that plug in?

Thanks for your help and for not laughing too loudly.

RF cable the round one that has the F connector on it, usually used for antenna and cable TV connections.
A/V stands for Audio/Video. Has 3 small cables with RCA plugs colors red, white, yellow. John
