Vccleanup error message

Nov 24, 2003 9:27AM PST

Everytime I start up my computer, I get an error message that has to do with "VcCleanUp", does anyone know what this is?? I heard it is related with Symantec. I have Norton anitvirus loaded on my machine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Norton Software 2 times and I still get this error message. Can anyone help me out with this problem??
Thanks in advance!

What is the error message?

You didn't write it for the forum to comment on.

Sadly, recent updates by Symantec finally had me eject Symantec (all items and tools) and just install Free Avg from http://www.grisoft.com If you read in the Security Forum, there is a new (free even) offering with some firewall and AV.

Maybe it's time to switch?

Can anyone help with this??
And will the free virus software provide email protection and anything else??

A recent virus would infect that file requiring a wipe of said program. You have to use the vendors removal tool to remove, then reinstall.

"And will the free virus software provide email protection and anything else??"

Sadly, today's protection is only good enough for today. You need to keep your selection of antivirus updated or it won't keep the bad stuff out. And as you may read, no product is perfect since new bugs are developed all the time. The answer is this is as good as it gets today.
