Question

VAIO vpceb46fg not booting up

Mar 16, 2017 12:47AM PDT

The laptop's power led starts blinking green a few times, then there is a clicking sound and the whole thing turns off. The screen is completely black. Which part could be malfunctioning?

PSU, motherboard or hard disk.
Disconnect the hard disk and if it boots fine now, that was the culprit. It's unlikely, but very easy to test.

Since motherboards usually don't make sound, I think the PSU is a likely candidate.

Kees is pretty spot on about the basic parts.

If this was mine I try the old remove any part I don't need to get a PC to stay on and show errors or the BIOS. That means I can pull the big battery, ODD, HDD, WiFi/Bluetooth module and leave 1 stick of RAM,

If that does same my bet would be motherboard. What do you think?
