Just boot the Windows 7 DVD and do a CLEAN INSTALL. Those upgrades have proven to be nothing but trouble.
Now get Sony to supply what order to install those drivers.
I recently upgraded my Sony Vaio (VGN-NR498e) with windows 7 (from Vista) and, in the process, lost all drivers and the recovery partition on my drive. While I've found most drivers for my laptop on Sony's site, I'm having trouble with my CD drive in particular. My Drive isn't recognized by windows at all. I can open the drive, and I can hear the disc being read in the drive, but windows can't seem to pick any of that up.
I seem to have found drivers for the hardware on Sony's page, but trying to install said drivers results in an error. Something along the lines of "you don't have administrator privileges or the drive cannot be read - drivers will not install." How can I fix this?
