Look up GPARTED and see if that shows the partitions on the drive. I don't read anywhere where you deleted all the partitions prior to installing 7. Try that.
Good luck,

After wasting about a total of 6 hours trying 3 different attempts to do a clean install of Windows 7, I'm trying to find as much help as possible before my next attempt.
I do the Windows 7 install, it does its series of reboots and gets to what I believe is the final configuration, things look great, the laptop reboots for the last time but never comes back up. Instead of booting into Windows 7 for use, it instead boots to the Vaio recovery Tool. Like I mentioned earlier, the previous, what I believe to be the final configuration setup, looks great, the desktop looks good but that final reboot kills it.
I have two main questions which I think will help me figure this thing out:
1) where does this Vaio Recovery Tool reside? Having attempted a clean install, it cannot be on Drive C or it would have been wipped.
Is it in Bios or located on the hidden partition or somewhere else?
2) If it is on that hidden partition then I would wipe that out as a last resort because if I wipe that, I have no way back to Windows Vista!! It actually takes longer to put Vista back on then it did to attempt the Win7 install.
I wonder what the system see's to trigger the Vaio Recovery Tool?? It may be something as simple as it doesn't seen Windows Vista so it boots the Recovery Tool... if that's the case then maybe locating and wiping it out would allow it to boot into Win7?
thanks to anyone who can help.
