Vaio Laptop interfering with Mac Laptop

Wife has 2008 macbook laptop. Worked flawlessly with wireless router.
Early 2009 I bought a Vaio laptop. Internet connection spotty at times and when it was near the Mac, neither one could access the internet.

A friend said he "disabled the dual channel function" on the Vaio. This fixed the problem and both laptops worked beautifully. Unfortunately, I didn't write down what he did.

Had to restore system defaults on the Vaio and now the problem is back.

I've been playing with all the wireless settings and can't find anything that works or looks like "dual channel".

any suggestions on what the fix was that worked previously?
