V551 No audio while charging

Am I the only one with this problem? When my phone is being charged the phone thinks it is connected to a car kit. All internal audio is muted. Incoming calls do not ring. I can connect a headset and make outgoing calls.

This is the 2nd V551 that has developed this problem. Both phones started behaving this way after being used with genuine Moto smart car kit. (2 different car kits) Moto is denying that they have a known issue. Cingular will not replace my phone because I am just over my one year warranty.

I tried a different SIM card but the problem persists. I'm thinking of re-flashing the firmware in the hopes that the problem is due to a corrupt firmware.

Any thoughts
