Well the story is that we moved and Uverse was in the apartment so I called up to get it going.
Ever see a Keystone Kops movie?
1. My cell phone was the one from where I moved from so I had to use a relative's local phone to get the order in.
Calling from my cell phone would connect me to the wrong region and ATT could not transfer my call or supply a phone number for me to call.
2. OK, I made it past that hurdle and arranged for them to install but they insist I must get dial tone first. OK, let's do that.
3. The ATT Phone/DSL tech arrives and proceeds to tell me the lines are no good which I thought was strange since Uverse was working the week prior. But lines do go bad.
The tech goes "Aha" and runs out. On return he tells me the connection was on the wrong pairs on the street and he fixed that.
We have dial tone.
4. The ATT Uverse tech arrives and tells me the lines are no good and given the prior experience I tell them the prior tech said the same thing but switched the wires at the street.
The tech goes "AHA!" and runs out. On return he tells me the connection was on the wrong pairs on the street and he fixed that.
-> I could not make this up. They have some problems.
5. OK, we find a home and move there and I call ATT to make the move.
No lie. And this is where I lost Uverse for the last time.
6. The ATT Uverse tech arrives and tells me the board is bad down the street and then says I need to call it in.
I did call it in and given the incident above I got the feeling this company is not in this business. I'm sure they are trying their best but they gotta do better.
The last call was a little interesting as there were charges for termination, installation and more. I said "good luck with that." since I was not the one that failed to install their products. A short pause and they said it was all canceled along with the charges.
But you know this was not the end of the story. 6 months later I got a bill for my DSL at my new home. I never had DSL so another call and another "Good luck with that" conversation.

If you are thinking about getting Uverse, think again. When you have service problems they will waste days of your time while their incompetent technicians do everything but solve the problem.
Things get really bad when you loose use of your home phone internet and TV service for days at a time.
AT&T deliberately makes it hard to report problems. They try their best to avoid talking to customers. They expect you to solve your own problem or just go away.
