uTorrent downloads very slowly....

Mar 27, 2007 9:41PM PDT

Hi,
I have ADSL internet and currently I'm trying to download a torrent from the web of 1.18 gb size. I'm using uTorrent and the download is terribly slow.
But look at this picture: http://halfprice.habra.com/Mirza/Bugs/uTorrent.gif

It tell me that I should open up a port on my firewall to speed up the download, but I don't know how to do that. I'm using the free ZoneAlarm Personal Edition.

Does anybody have advice for me, I think this will not download this week Happy

Regards,
Mirza

u Torrent

Hey Mirzahat
If you double click on that little red circle, uTorrent shows you what port it is trying to use. Now comes the hard part, you need to be able to log on to your router or ADSL modem. Try 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1, one of these should work. In all routers there is a category called "Port Forwarding", put in the range that uTorrent is trying to use, for example: "23588 to 23588" select TCP and UDP. that should do it. Let me know...

ADSL MOdem

Hello Mirzahat
Try 10.0.0.0. That's normally the address of the SpeedTouch. If that doesn't work, try to find the manual that came with it. The address should be in there. BTW: What model SpeedTouch do U have?

Sorry Mirzahat,
http://10.0.0.138 should work...

NOTE: Don't make any changes in there until you are absolutely sure

Find your manual! It should still be the default password set by the manufacturer, i.e. admin/1234 or something like that. You're almost there Happy

Different client
Apr 18, 2007 3:27AM PDT

Try using a different torrent client like Azureus. This is the best one according to me.The slow speed could be because some other applications running in the background are not compatible with utorrent.Well, its worth a try...
