General discussion

USPS just about broke.

[New bill] "Provides $25 billion for the cash-strapped U.S. Postal Service, which is expected to run out of money by the end of September without congressional aid because it’s losing so much revenue during the pandemic. The measure also would repeal several restrictions on a $10 billion line of credit for the Postal Service authorized in a previous economic rescue bill."

Ironic. We're continuing our "pestering work" as I call it, from home. Probably even after restrictions ease. Just phone, PC videos etc.

And letter writing. Wife and I are on track to spend easily $150 on Forever stamps in mailing tracts and letters to the area. Helping support your quasi-governmental organization. Cool Fun for us, and the one non-negotiable part of our worship. So Toni will have to take pot shots at the letter carriers. Happy Hint: The return address will have a name and a PO Box #; the Kingdom Hall.
I can't understand the churches that complain about being cut off- by Caesar- from the proper worship of their god. We're doing Mt 28:19,20, fulfiling Mt 24:14. We're happy and Jehovah's happy.

I did find, on newadvent, link lost, a lone priest taking confessions in his parking lot, well thought out setup. Had to commend him, although not my religion. He and his people believe it, so he was doing the tight thing by them. What he's ordained to do.
No griping that I recall.

Maybe the US GOV needs to pay their postage.

If I recall, members of Congress and how many others get to use the mail for free. I recently received a note from the IRS with DJT's signature and to me this was a total waste of USPS money and now ours.

Think of this next time you hear about such:
"Givers have to learn to set limits because takers don't have any."

You need better connecrions.

Our note, with the Great Man's name, was a check for $2400. Grin
The PO problems go way back. You old ones may remember when it was the last of the great patronage giveaways, at least at the top. The Postmaster General was always a party bigwig, and the management jobs were his to distribute. The result was nobody in management cared.
One effect I saw up close when I worked as a sub carrier for a while. Postal Union had things its way for a long time. Very generous benefits, especially sick pay. All over the walls were messages asking (begging) employees to save their sick days until retirement, also quite generous- 100% as I recall. Didn't help. Still took sick days, meaning that two people were being paid that day for the job. Lots of jobs X 2.

Landers, a natural Jew, might have got it from Pro 27:20. Grin

Franking privilege, if you forgot.

One of the advantages of being an incumbent. I believe campaign mailers don't qualify, but the allowed regular updates keep your name and smiling face in front of all your constituents, red and blue. We don't get them because we're no longer registered voters. (In CA a driver's licence put you on the rolls. Out here they've given up. Happy )
("licence" was from my spellchecker-replacer. Go figure. When it does work, it's in a furrin language. Canuck.)

no mailngs here

though I get packages and junk mail through the mail, everything else is done online. I may have used one stamp over the past five years.

Same here. Had a book of 20 for the occasional mailing.

Lasted a couple of years anyway.

Unless you're off grid you'll hear from us. What you do is, you put the letter up against the door frame and slam the door on it. Bill does. Watch fingers!

Did I tell you that I used to catch typos

(LLV) mentioned is already past its design life of 20 years.
What to do? Choose the worst alternative, probably.
There's a bigger one based on the old Ford van of some time ago. Also over the hill.

Ask a good cost accountant

10 mpg

It's almost all start and stop action delivering mail. It's why city driving is less MPG than highway.

Note: Do you charge me extra to deliver to someone's house?

No- by law.
