Using Wii with wireless internet?

May 12, 2010 5:10AM PDT

Any issues with this? The only internet access I'd use are mostly for the channels, maybe to purchase some stuff through the Wii's channels, but I don't really plan on playing any games online in real time. Would this be fast enough for that use?

Should be

Should be, assuming your Internet connection is sufficient. I have a PS3 connected via wireless for pretty much the same basic purpose. Firmware updates, and I bought a copy of Final Fantasy 7 and 8. Don't use it for online gaming at all, and it works fine, but it's also backed by a 7Mbps DSL connection.

WII INTERNET CONNECTION
May 13, 2010 4:47PM PDT

My nepwes have a Wii and use it play games online but we have Verizon Fios with 35 down and 15 up.

We have 6 machines connected to the wi-fi router and it the Wii plays well.

We have experience some slow downs when my niece uses her iPod Touch.

Don't understand that one.

Could be a simple thing.

If the iPod touch is 802.11b then the network takes a speed hit.

Simple fixes include setting the router not to work with 802.l1b devices to adding a second router as a WAP supporting 802.11b only.

iPod on Wi-Fi - @Bob
May 14, 2010 3:06AM PDT

Thanks Bob, for the input - The router is from Verizon, there are 3 computers one laptop and 2 pc's that I thought I was going to have problems if I changed it to G only because they are older, but we did not experience any slow downs.
I am running the router on G mode only, and everything connects.

It is only when the iPod is turn on that the problem appears.

Based on the above, is it your opinion that even though i have the router on G mode ONLY, that it's dropping down to support B Mode?

Any other comments would be very appreciated.
