Why bother using Terminal when you can just drag and drop the files from one machine to the other.
All you need to do is network the two machines together.

Or are you not telling the whole story?

What size are these files??

Email out of the question.
Either of you have a .Mac account?

You could try one of the FTP clients that are out there. Transmit is a good one and it has a free trial period

yeah, email is unfortunatley out of the question. the web based emails we've tried just take too long to process the larger files. i suppose they scan them for viruses too or stuff. Sorry to make this hard on yah. i'll give transmit a try. thanks a lot!
