Using the pcAnywhere program

Aug 6, 2007 1:51PM PDT

I have the "pcAnywhere" v. 11.5 program. I'll be leaving my usual location for awhile, and figured this might be a good way to remotely access my home/office computer, if needed.

Does anyone here have experience using this program? Any problems?

I did a Google search about the software and it turned up problems with pcAnywhere v.11. I haven't see anything negative about v.11.5.

Also, an article mentioned that if one of the computers linked by pcAnywhere (pcA)is on a dial-up connection, the performance may be too slow to make pcA usable. It said because pcA constantly redraws a picture of the host computer, using it with a dial-up may not work so well. My home computer is on a dial-up ISP.

Finally, while my home computer is a Win98SE machine, I'm almost certain the computer I'll be using while away will be an issued laptop with XP on it.

Thanks for any ideas or advice.

All software will have problems. If you ever find problem free software please tell us.

Next, I think you should look at LOGMEIN (see google.com)
