Using smart tv as a monitor for pc

Hi I have a Samsung smart tv and would like to use it as a monitor, would using the hdmi port from back of the computer to the tv work and give me sound aswell? Also if my computer has a dvi port would a hdmi/dvi adapter work aswell? Sorry I'm a total div with technology and not purchased my computer yet, Thankyou

Yes, hdmi should work, including sound. The v in dvi stands for video, so it has no sound. And with adapters, always note the difference between in and out.
There are wireless options also, if you don't like long hdmi-cables running through your room.

That's what I'm doing

Using a 26" Westinghouse TV as a monitor screen and no problems, except I lowered my resolution to 1600x900x70Hz for personal preference.
