Question

Using prepaid service provider on an old Sprint phone

Feb 13, 2015 11:59AM PST

So unfortunately I'm getting old enough that technology is starting to confuse me... If I have an iPhone 4, which was formerly utilized through Sprint (but no longer on a plan), can I buy a prepaid plan through another carrier and use it? Do I need to buy a sim card through the new carrier that I will be utilizing? (a.k.a. does the existing SIM card only work on the Sprint network?) Does the phone need to be 'unlocked'? Keep in mind, while I'm using these terms, I don't necessarily have a great understanding of what they mean. Sorry...Sad

....would be to try Virgin mobile as a prepaid service. No guarantees there.

The iPhone 4 cannot be used on a carrier that relies on service from Verizon, At&t or T-Mobile. Good luck.

since Ting is a prepaid by Sprint, your phone will work.

with a Sprint Sims card , Ting is the way to go.
I've been using Ting for about a year now with a Sprint i5 and no problems.

I pay maybe $21 a month at the most
