Jul 9, 2007 7:54AM PDT

i have a simple problem. i think. my gateway laptop has an svga output. i bought a cable that convers svga to rca looking to be able to watch youtube or dvd videos through my television. heres the problem, when i go to my device manager, settings, and "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" and click apply... the only thing that happens is my tv flashes a few lines of light, and my laptop monitor comes back on with the box unchecked. this is driving me nutty. please help. anyone.

why not use s-video

If your laptop is new (last two years) and so is your tv then s-video is teh way to go. No sound bt decent video. I am assuming your TV is not HDTV.

Make sure you did not put the RCA cable into component plug on.
