Using laptop as a home computer

Mar 31, 2016 10:07AM PDT

I have recently acquired an ACER Aspire R13 2-in-1 Laptop with 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD. I also got an external optical drive to go along with it. I would like to create a docking station at home and use it as my home computer also. I want to make sure I am getting everything I need and am doing everything correctly. I am familiar with computers but am far from expert. I assume I should be looking docking station and external hard drive at the least. Any recommendations on the best docking stations and external hard drives? Any tips I should know about?

I never found a need for a dock and for other content I have a HDD plugged into my router (nice feature.)

For me a dock isn't needed.

will have the docking station that's completely compatioble with their Acer. A docking station is only needed if you don't have ports on the the laptop that are needed for say external drives, Screens. Most laptops have 3 or 4 USB ports to be used for external drives. Now if you need an external monitor probably need either a display port or HDMI and you may only need an adapter.
