using kodak easyshare for reducing image size

Nov 15, 2004 11:38PM PST

Hi everybody!
I was trying to help a friend figure this out. He wanted to email a picture which was in his kodak easyshare folder. The image was approx 3mb and he wanted to reduce it to email size. I found compression under tools/preferences and moved slider to left hand end and then "done". But could not find reduced size image (original was still in same place). When I chose email tab image was still 3mb and there did not seem any option of reducing it within the email tab interface. I am sure there is a straightforward way of saving file in reduced size version but I am darned if I can work it out using easyshare. Help!

If I email it via Easyshare it's not going to use my email program or place it where I can nab it. But it will shrink it and email it via Kodak's email servers.

You can shrink such with IRFANVIEW (hint: google.com it) with not much ado.

Hello and thanks for getting back
When the image file was displayed within the easyshare email interface, the properties of file still showed it as being 3mb. This is very confusing if you are saying that the file is shrunk but we can't see it has happened!
I know about Irfanview but it seems strange that kodakeasyshare does not have an internal file shrinkage facility eg being able to save two versions of image one for email and one for printing?

Just for fun and for you I opened the Kodak software. Here's the steps to shrink an image. I will not be using their software for this feature!

1. Open the Kodak main application.
2. Find your picture and right-click, EDIT it.
3. Click (in the editor) the Save As button and set the Resize Picture to the percent you want.

IRFANVIEW seems easier.
