Using credit cards on line

Dec 2, 2004 11:56PM PST

My question is...
How safe is it to use PayPal, StormPay and IntGold?
They all keep the credit card number for future reference and seeing that I use PayPal quite often, I really would like to know if it is wise to do so.
Thank you

Using credit cards on line

Paypal is owned by Ebay so they are safe to use. Its a better service for buyers than sellers. Also if you link a credit card to Paypal you have PP protection + your CC buyer protections.

One thing I always do immediately after making an online purchase is clean out my cache/temp internet files, so no possibility of information is left there.

Just remember this. . .

A few months back one of the Internet businesses had their site hacked and credit card information from thousands of customers was found.

As far as I'm concerned, NEVER leave your credit card information on a seller's site. Odds are they will be hacked.

Yeah, it's convenient. But if you pay by CC, fill in the information, THEN delete your cache.

Good luck,

I'm A Little Confused

I understand the benefit of cleaning out my cache (I do it daily) but how do I remove my CC# from PayPal et-al? Once it is given to them they have it in their files don't they?
BTW, there is a new, or maybe not so new, method of getting CC#'s. They use a photo capability cell phone and take pictures of the card during a transaction.
The advantages of the electronic age are infinite. (He says with tongue in cheek).

Nope, here's why

This is all a convience and while that's good when you're online, its "out of your hands". Keep control, use the CC# everytime on a realtime basis, lessen anyone else having access. These are your finances, safeguard them best by providing it only when needed. The choice is yours. Happy -----Willy
