I'm using a combo USB flash drive and MP3 player and have never used an iPod. The downside of my player is that I have to stop and convert the podcasts I listen to to MP3 format in iTunes. Then I have to go to the finder and drag the file to the flash drive's window. I paid $50 for mine several years ago and just bought a similar one from KMart for like $35. From what I've read about it I would get an iPod if I could get a (probably used) one for $50.
Apple is having a buy a Mac and get a free iPod (Nano or $179 on another type) promotion for college students. See www.apple.com/education.
I'm looking to get a MacBook for college and I also want a new MP3 Player (my 4th Generation iPod crashed) and am going to get the Creative Zen Vision: M.
I am wondering if Macs allow you to use an MP3 Player other than iPod on their system. Any answers?
