Ready? -> It may or may not work. Even if you have all the same maker gear.
That said I continue to hook up in a very specific way. Here's the short version.
1. All sources run to the receiver inputs.
2. The receiver HDMI output goes to the HDTV.
3. One last link is from the HDTV Optical back to the receiver Optical input.
And then many rounds of setup to get it just right.
Only those that have time to lose expect ARC to work. After all the failures I learn not to count on it.
What a pain in the proverbial... receiver all linked up for months and was waiting until I had some dollars to invest in a new TV to link the whole shabbang up. Surely using an HDMI into the ARC HDMI ports on the receiver and TV is all that is required? - that would be too easy. Nought! I can't even see a setting for ARC (or home theatre for example) on the Panasonic (TX40cx680b) TV menu. The speakers are certainly working nicely as I can link, for example, an iPad via USB to the front on the AV receiver and works nicely. Has anybody had a similar experience with a recent Panasonic model?
