Resolved Question

Using an ssd as an hdd with pvr and its not getting recogniz

Jul 18, 2016 10:13PM PDT

Ok firstly i had no idea which catagory i should put this is in but i feel like this is the best one. So recently i bought a hauppauge rocket which is ment to be able to record video clips onto a usb, when i plug in my 8gb usb it recognizes that im ready to record but when I plug in my ssd (using a hard drive case) into the pvr it makes a clicking noise not loud but still alarming then the pvr doesnt recognize and it doesnt give me a signal that im ready to record just the regular nothing plugged in signal. So at first i thought it was the partitions so i got rid of all of them, then it did the same thing then i thought it was because it ntfs so a got a program to switch it to fat32 didnt work either and on the website it says it supports ntfs hard drives and then i plugged in my computer i can put files and take files off like a regular usb but my hauppuge pvr rocket doesnt recognize it and I do not know if someone can tell me why and how to fix it will be much appreciated

I suspect your going to need a powered enclosure.
Your pvr does not have enough muscle to power more than a usb stick.

When i add more power it makes more noise

it's a SSD Hdd. That shouldn't make noise. Sounds like maybe a problem with the case?

Something is unclear.

But DVR and PVRs are not PCs so this may not be supported. Go with what they support.

Yes you can ask them why but here, I'm not privy to why it's not supported.
